Circuit Training

Ever wanted to switch up your same old gym routine, or maybe at home workouts? Well circuit training is definitely one way to do it, but another way to do it is through HIIT workouts. Before you even ask what a HIIT workout is, go check out my friend Kairah James' post all about HIIT!

Now onto circuit training. There are tons of definitions about what circuit training is and why you should incorporate it into your workouts. I've narrowed it down to one definition, and five quick and simple benefits.

What is Circuit Training?

Circuit training is essentially, a way to condition your body using high-intensity aerobics. It targets strength building and muscular endurance.

The Workout

5 Benefits of Circuit Training

1. Maximum results in Minimal time

You can do one of the best full body workouts in less than 10 minutes with circuit training. It doesn't take much to do a circuit workout. Pick your top 5 exercises, do them for 30 seconds each and there you have it. Maximum results in minimal time.

2. Cardio & Strength

For some reason cardio always seems to be the most trying part of any workout, but with circuit training it can definitely be the easiest part. The combination of exercises, coupled with maximum effort makes time go by faster and before you know it you, your cardio is done for the day.

3. Total Body Workout

Circuit training is awesome for working every part of your body. While you are able to work on isolated muscle groups, you also have the opportunity to work on your total body, which brings us back to maximum results in minimal time.

4. Metabolic Rate Increase

If you're looking to lose a few pounds fairly fast, then you definitely need to incorporate circuit training in your routine. Since you're working out your total body and burning a lot of calories fast, it inevitably speeds up your metabolism. It's perfect for shedding a few pounds before a special occasion, but it's also essential for keeping those pounds off.

5. Muscle Confusion

My favorite thing about circuit training is the fact that I can confuse my muscles! If you're not familiar with muscle confusion, well essentially, it's switching up and changing your workout around. Many times when people workout, they fail to change their routine and then they end up plateauing. With circuit training you don't have to worry about that. Since there are so many different exercises to do, you can be sure that you're not over working the same muscle groups and hopefully you won't plateau.

If you're ready to change up your workout regimen and excited to incorporate some new things into your routine, then you should definitely try out circuit training. While you're at it, go check out Kairah's post about HIIT. As always, don't forget to educate, engage, and inspire everyone in all you do.
